Stateside performer Pat Finn, who appeared in popular programs including "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California on Monday following treatment for cancer from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his family shared in a message.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

A Notable Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the lead character's sibling.

He was also seen in a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.

He starred as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on several hit series, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

His most famous role for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in "The Middle", appearing throughout eight seasons of the show over nearly a decade.

His film credits encompass "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Outside of his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils over the years and it's nearly impossible to find a person who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote publicly.

Pat Finn is leaves behind his spouse Donna, his children, and his family.
