Much like bad weather swept through the north-west the prior day, Manchester City swept Manchester United away at the Etihad. It was a convincing three-nil triumph for the City coach's side owing to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a performance that truly announced their leadership claims as they consolidated their standing at the WSL pinnacle.

Consecutive Setbacks for Manchester United

This result signalled successive Women's Super League defeats for the United manager's side for the first time since May 2024, putting them seven points off the league leaders with their championship aspirations hanging by a thread.

Manchester United's capacity to juggle league and European football with a thin squad has been a frequently analyzed topic since they earned a place in the European competition.
