Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the American officials has not commented.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.

The statement noted missile fragments fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
