David Raya Highlights Squad Depth as Key to Silverware Ambitions

The Spanish shot-stopper has emphasized that fierce rivalry for starting positions is propelling Arsenal's exceptional run, with the goalkeeper asserting that the team's roster under Mikel Arteta is so remarkable that they can challenge for several trophies throughout the campaign.

Stunning Victories Highlight The Gunners' Strength

Arsenal's latest comprehensive win over Atlético Madrid represented their sixth straight victory and tenth triumph in a dozen games. Having let in just three goals—a record low at this point in the team's legacy—Arsenal have established a narrow advantage at the Premier League summit and a flawless start in the Champions League after three outings.

Squad Changes and Depth Key to Success

The goalkeeper has featured in almost all matches, aside from one domestic cup fixture, but Arteta has consistently rotated the team following heavy spending on recruits. When asked about competing for multiple trophies, Raya said, "Absolutely, I believe so. The depth is amazing. We have numerous options who can perform in multiple positions."

For instance, against Atlético, a teammate came on as a striker and can also play as a central midfielder or attacking midfielder. Such flexibility is available to the manager, and it's being utilized to benefit the team. Things appear extremely promising, and this roster strength is crucial for us.

Competition Drives Performance

Raya added, "This situation provides an extra level in practice and games because if you're not at it, your place is at risk in a fraction of a second. That fosters healthy competitiveness in sessions and on the pitch, which is really, really important, and the whole squad accepts it."

Defensive Solidity a Collective Effort

The team have let in just a single goal from regular play so far, and the keeper has had to deal with a mere one attempt in their last three wins against three opponents.

"It's a collective effort from the striker to the goalkeeper," Raya explained. "Everyone is focused, no one wants to concede, and we aim to intercept passes before it reaches the halfway line. If we intercept, we can launch a quick counter. This is essential for everyone to feel this mentality, and opponents aren't creating many chances, which is ideal."
