Even though embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning very quickly. Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding win that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

Another three points in their next fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to seal direct passage to the knockout stages, especially following a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Grasp the Opportunity

This match offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe talent to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, finding the net for the second game in match.

A Shelbourne team that had finished their league season proved no match even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were already weakened by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg problems.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, only to see his effort blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
