Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving

In a unexpected collaboration that defies traditional expectations, the game developer has revealed an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Mission Revealed

According to the authorized announcement, "An unusual encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where hints of prohibited rituals and monstrous changes echo through the shadows." The narrative introduces a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a hidden sect.

The mission concentrates on "strange trials and a monstrous enemy" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Places and Changes

The trailer highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview concludes with a powerful sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Extra Features

Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an exclusive katana alongside several objects secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

  • Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
  • Mikasa outfit for Naoe
  • Exclusive implements
  • Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Content

This update also adds the game's third complimentary story addition, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap characteristic techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Past Japanese Animation Partnerships

This signifies scarcely the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that obviously nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
