Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for questions to be raised about his position after another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the club's worst streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of backing from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points of course but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard discussions I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them after this game so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period like this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to the top, prove once more what this club is about and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
